Revolting is the proud receipient of a European Lovie Award.
The Lovie Awards recognise the unique and resonant nature of the European Internet community. The awards are presented and judged by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, who are a leading body of experts, business figures, luminaries, creative celebrities and other Internet professionals.
The awards recieved almost 700 entries from 20 European countries and Revolting won an award within the Education and Reference category for an interactive ‘Secret Safari’ on Brownsea Island which we produced for the National Trust.
The purpose of the project was to increase young people’s interest in Brownsea Island. To achieve this the National Trust wanted to create an alternative guide to the island. Using inspiration of the unique habitat of Brownsea, Revolting worked with pupils from a local school to create unique creatures that are captured by visitors scanning QR codes at hidden locations around the island.

Recently we had a small redesign of our business cards.
The new cards all feature a QR code to make it easier to store our contact details on a smart phone. Not only that, you can now have a miniature Revolting team stood on your desk, shelves or any other surface (we’ve already had a table-top bowling competition - Ross won!).
The photographs were taken by our friend Andy Whale (www.andywhale.com) and the cards were digitally printed and hand finished by Acanthus in Somerset.

We have got together with a gang of our favourite creatives down here in Dorset, to put on an amazing event to showcase some of the brilliant ‘stuff’ that people are making locally.
We’re on the look out for talented local artists who want to be a part of the first Show & Tell Pop Up Shop.
Who?
If you’re a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, textile artist or are a whizz at any other creative trade, and you’re working in or around Dorset then you could be just what we’re looking for.
For many makers and artists, the place to collaborate, talk and sell stuff has increasingly been in a virtual, online world, through forums such as ‘Etsy’ and ‘Not For The High Street’.
Through Show & Tell, we want to bring this back into the real world so we can make friends, learn from each other and be inspired by those living and working around us. It’s our vision to put on a weekend exhibition where we can all show, share and have fun. If you would like to join in and be part of this then please read on.
When?
Our first event will take place On Friday 29th July to Sunday 31st July, and there’ll be different events during this weekend, including music, food, performance and exhibits.
Where?
We’re really lucky to have been lent an amazing property to bring you the Show & Tell Pop Up Shop. We’ve got a great venue: St Peter’s Hall, 6 Hinton Road, Bournemouth, BH1 2EN, where there’s plenty for space for everything we want to do.
This was formally a nightclub you may have known as ‘Crank’.
How?
If you’ve got work you’d like to show us & tell people about then please download and complete this form, and email it to info@TheShowAndTellPopUpShop.co.uk Once we’ve reviewed the submissions, we’ll be in touch with those who we’d like to join us this time round. We’ll be asking each artist to pay an admin fee of £20 but they’ll get to keep 100% of their sales.

Last week our creative director was invited to Manor Park Primary School, just around the corner from our studio, to talk to an after school club or 7-9 year olds currently working on a project to design a new theme park.
Part of this project comprised of the children having to devise a logo for their park and the rides. Ross was on hand to give them an insight on what it is to be a graphic designer, and what to be thinking about when creating a brand.
It was an excellent afternoon, made extra special by the fact it seemed to be fancy dress day, which meant Ross was soon surrounded by a range of incredibly enthusiastic little Jedi’s, Princesses and Wizards.

This weekend saw a hoard of Crafty Bastards descend upon Washington DC in the United States.
That isn’t as disparaging as it sounds. ‘Crafty Bastards’ is the name of the incredibly popular arts and crafts fair that takes place in the nations capital each year. As usual, friend of the studio, the queen of etsy, Tina Seamonster was in attendance.
Check out these pictures taken on the day, including a banner featuring the brand new Tina Seamonster logo as well as a spanking new, still wet from the screen-printers, ‘Save Jaws’ T-shirt, both designed by us here at Revolting.

As part of the B-side festival friend of Revolting, photographer Andy Whale, has been commissioned to create a set of photgraphs to be exhibited in bus stop adshells in and around Weymouth and Portland.
We were proud to layout these poster for Andy. Be sure to tweet us (@wearerevolting) and Andy (@andywhale01) if you see the work on your travels.

Here is the press release:
Andy Whale is a Dorchester based photographer, he has just exhibited at Bridport Arts Centre ‘Not Quite Right’; a series of striking images of out of work actors.
“I aim to produce some equally striking images for the B-side bus stop project, portraits of local people that the public doesn’t always see. By taking them away from their local environment and photographing them in a studio I aim to produce some images that will be hard not to be intrigued by!”
Andy has worked in London as a freelance photographer for 25 years and has recently relocated to Dorset (where he grew up). Andy was well known in London for his outstanding images for The Royal Ballet and the English National Opera.
Over the last 6 years Andy has been working as a Director Photography in Commercials and short films. During this time he has become very excited by portrait photography, where the person is everything! “A persons face can say so much, I love to give the viewer the opportunity to spend time viewing these faces and taking what they will from them, and to be in some way moved by them.”
Bus Stops is a b-side partnership project with Sherborne House Arts.

We recently organised a photo shoot on behalf of the International Baccalaureate (an international examination board) for a publication they were having produced in the United States.
There was a very tight schedule to get this project completed. We rose to the challenge and managed to cast nine models to a very specific criteria, source a suitable school location and compile a crew of stylists and assistants within four days of being briefed.
Our Creative Director, Ross Cleaver art directed Photographer Andy Whale to capture a range of different scenarios in an intense yet exciting day long shoot.

We had a brilliant time at the local Arts University College at Bournemouth last week, (man, do they need to sort out a catchier name for that place!) the degree shows are amazing, go and check them out whilst you still can.
Part of the the reason for us to attend was to find out more about the Design Buddy initiative that Revolting are going to be involved in. We are really looking forward to working with a student next year in a mentoring capacity especially after seeing the quality of their work at the show.
Find out more about the scheme here.

NOSFERATU

to be accompanied by improvised soundtrack and DJ interventions by Alan Rogers.
We look forward to seeing you at
The Clipper (Formally Barracuda) on Thomas Street in Weymouth town centre

We had a brilliant time at the local Arts University College at Bournemouth last week, (man, do they need to sort out a catchier name for that place!) the degree shows are amazing, go and check them out whilst you still can.
Part of the the reason for us to attend was to find out more about the Design Buddy initiative that Revolting are going to be involved in. We are really looking forward to working with a student next year in a mentoring capacity especially after seeing the quality of their work at the show.
Find out more about the scheme here.

About:

Revolting is a small studio with great big ideas.

Ideas that they realise in the form of branding, brand application, print based communications and creative and cost effective print management.

Some of the best ideas require the help of talented and creative friends. Revolting always look to work with the very best to provide exciting photography, video, audio, copy-writing and web & multimedia solutions.

"Not being able to do everything is no excuse for not doing everything you can."

Revolting specialise in working with Educational, Arts, Charitable and Public Sector organisations. For these clients, as well as for most people in today's climate, there is a great need to make every penny of their budget work for them. With this in mind, Revolting always look for creative ideas that give value for money at the same time as striving to minimise any environmental impact.

Revolting work with you, not for you. They get to know you and help you discover what it is you are trying to say. They then find the right idea to say it, an idea that will get you seen, heard and understood.
